The Dogs Behind Velocity K9
Snubbull
Snubbull came to Emily as a last resort.
He had a severe history of resource guarding and aggression. His behavior had become so serious that if training wasn't successful, euthanasia was on the table. Emily knew that finding him another home would be incredibly difficult, and she didn't believe it would be responsible to pass him on to someone else.
Snubbull needed structure. He needed consistency. And most importantly, he needed an environment where mistakes could not be taken lightly. What started as a training case quickly became something much more personal.
Behind the difficult behavior was an incredibly intelligent dog who was eager to learn. As training progressed, Snubbull began to show just how much he was capable of. With clear boundaries, structure, and an outlet for his energy, the dog who had once been considered too dangerous to place began to become something completely different.
Eventually, Emily and Paul made the decision to adopt him.
Snubbull was one of the first truly aggressive dogs Emily had the opportunity to work with. Working through his challenges opened the door to an entirely new side of dog training for her. Snubbull showed Emily how much can change when an owner is given the right guidance, tools, and support. His journey sparked a new love for helping owners understand their dogs and giving them the confidence to work through challenges rather than feeling like they have to face them alone.
Today, Snubbull lives with Emily on several acres, where he has the space, structure, and lifestyle that allow him to thrive. He hikes, camps, and backpacks with Emily and Paul, Velocity K9's co-owner and Emily's fiancé. He gets to run, explore, learn, and simply be a dog.
The dog who once had an extensive bite history now performs tricks, participates in shaping demonstrations, dances, and enthusiastically works with his person. He has an outlet for his energy and a life that fits who he is.
Snubbull's story is a huge part of why Velocity K9 believes that behavior does not tell the whole story of a dog.
Snubbull also led Emily to the rescue he originally came from, and today, Velocity K9 proudly partners with that rescue to help other dogs and families who need support.
Aki
The face behind the logo.
Aki is a Belgian Malinois who came into Emily's life through a training client who could no longer fulfill his needs.
One day, Emily received a distressing call from his owner, who was overwhelmed and unsure of what to do. He was asking how he could safely rehome Aki and where he could possibly go from there. Aki was intelligent, driven, energetic, and simply more dog than his owner was prepared to handle.
Emily knew Aki needed the right structure, the right outlet, and someone who understood what he was capable of. She shared the situation with her head trainer, never expecting what would happen next.
When Aki was dropped off, he was also very sick and clearly in need of care, and Emily's head trainer ultimately surprised her by helping make Aki hers.
From that moment on, Aki became an important part of Emily's life. He was given the structure, guidance, and opportunity he needed to thrive, and in return, he became a dog who would leave a lasting mark on Emily and eventually on Velocity K9 itself.
His athletic build, intensity, and unmistakable Belgian Malinois character eventually became the inspiration for the Velocity K9 logo.
While Snubbull represents the heart of our story, Aki became the face of our brand. Together, their stories represent what Velocity K9 stands for.
Every dog has different needs, different strengths, and different challenges. Our job isn't to make every dog the same. It's to understand the individual dog in front of us, give them the tools they need, and help them become the best version of themselves. Our goal is to give both dogs and their people the tools to succeed together.
